Has anyone here given Mechanical Breakdown Insurance or an Extended Car Warranty a shot? I heard they're pretty similar. MBIs are usually cheaper and have more flexible payment options. Can anyone confirm this? And what about their coverage differences? I'm a bit clueless about the details and would love to hear from those who have experience with them.

Since I'm planning to hold onto my car for a long time, I went with a comprehensive extended warranty for maximum coverage. 3rd party MBIs suck!

Rather than purchasing an extended warranty, I prefer to save money for potential vehicle repairs after the manufacturer's warranty has expired. However, everyone has different financial strategies and risk tolerances.

Ugh, I can't help but roll my eyes every time another MBI commercial pops up on TV. The actors are always going on and on about how much money they’ve saved on repairs, but funny how they never mention all the people who are paying into it and getting absolutely nothing out of it. LOL

Haha, TRUE! It’s like they’re all about the savings, but conveniently skip over the fact that some folks are just out here paying for the whole thing with nothing in return.

Am I late to join in the conversation? 😀
I heard they’re only offering extended warranties for cars that are practically brand new. Ridiculous right?! Those cars are still under the manufacturer’s warranty. What are they even selling?
